Hi, I’m Lizzy—a figure skater turned soldier turned stiletto-wearing strategist on a mission to build a beautiful and wildly happy debt-free life.
I’ve been the girl in figure skates, the young woman in the sorority house, the one in dusty combat boots, and the one in five-inch heels who can budget down to the penny. This blog is where I will show you how to live your best life without putting your future self at risk.

🏡 Our Journey So Far
In 2019, I sold my condo, and my boyfriend (aka Mr. Cabbage) and I lived in seedy motels for weeks while house hunting. It wasn’t Pinterest-pretty—but it was part of our path to freedom. Now we live in a home bigger than either of us could have imagined with two tuxedo kittens (Coal and Vanilla) who rule the roost.
On May 15, 2025 we paid off our mortgage in under six years. And now, we are ready to live the dream: total financial independence, on our terms.
🌱 What Comes After Debt-Free?
Paying off debt was just the beginning. Now, I’m exploring the rich life I’ve been working toward—one that includes workouts in my gym, gorgeous secondhand dresses, roadtripping to see favorite bands, a garden (full of fresh strawberries and tomatoes), and digging up ideas for a novel.
I started this blog to show that you can be smart with your money without sacrificing style or joy. That like me, you should dream big because you can make things happen!
This blog is about making smart money moves, but it’s really about what happens after the bills are paid in full.
